Account Handler

Melville Burbage (part of the Jensten Group) are delighted to be recruiting for an Account Handler to join our friendly and experienced team in Newbury.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with insurance knowledge who enjoys building relationships, delivering great service and becoming a trusted point of contact for clients. You'll have responsibility for your own portfolio of clients, allowing you to build long-term relationships, understand their individual needs and provide a personalised service.

You'll be joining a hard-working, friendly team of nine, where collaboration, support and excellent client service are at the heart of everything we do.

This is an office-based role in Newbury town centre, with free onsite parking available. The role is based on a 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with no weekend working, helping to support a healthy work-life balance.

Key objectives & responsibilities will include:

• Handling a range of mostly Personal Lines (Home and Motor) insurance policies as well as some SME Commercial accounts.

• Managing your own portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact while building strong, long-term relationships and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

• Obtaining new business quotations and arranging cover, checking new policy documentation for accuracy and forwarding to clients or liaising with insurers as required.

• Processing mid-term adjustments and quarterly declarations.

• Managing clients' day-to-day enquiries, responding promptly and keeping them informed throughout.

• Referring technical queries to the relevant Account Executives or Directors where appropriate.

• Negotiating and inviting renewal of allocated client policies.

• Identifying opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell products where appropriate.

· Managing claims queries and liaising with insurers and colleagues to help support clients throughout the claims process.

You'll be someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent client service. You'll enjoy building lasting relationships and taking ownership of your own client portfolio, becoming a trusted adviser and go-to contact for your clients.

Other skills/requirements:

• Home and/or Motor insurance experience (both would be advantageous)

• Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

• CII qualifications, or a desire to work towards these.

• Experience using Acturis (advantageous).
