Role: Senior New Business Commercial Underwriter

Jensten Underwriting are seeking a Commercial Underwriter with the ability and motivation join our New Business team as we continue to look after our clients and focus on developing our core specialisms.

This role sits within the underwriting team based in our London office at Marlow House,  but will involve an element of home working as we embrace a hybrid model that promotes a healthy work life balance and rewards great performance. (We will also consider candidates being based at our Huntingdon office with the expectation to travel to the London office once a week).

The right candidate will be joining a fast paced and dynamic business and will contribute towards its growth through strong the underwriting result.

Some key objectives & responsibilities will include:

• Underwrite a portfolio of new commercial business commercial risks
  
• Build and maintain relationships with Brokers to negotiate and provide insurance solutions to customers
• Deal with all insurance processing and servicing as required
• Monitor own and team performance on new business written, rating and profitability
• Foster deep and meaningful trading relationships with our Broker Partners
• Understand your own and your teams loss ratio and GWP targets and take proactive action to achieve them
• Developing and training less experienced team members 

About you

As our New Business Underwriter, you will need to have a good solid understanding and experience of underwriting UK based Commercial Combine, Property Owners, Liability and Contractors risks and have the ability to lead and motive a team to achieve KPI’s and targets. Also, you will have the ability to build strong and valuable working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll also be or have:

• Experience in Underwriting commercial combined, property owners, liability and contractors risks
• Cert CII highly preferred
  
• Ability to be analytical with a high attention to detail
• Be a strong communicator and enjoy building strong relationships with Brokers
